I am a full-time metal sculptor from Massachusetts. I design both large-scale sculptures for private collectors and temporary public exhibits filled with multiple pieces.
My love for art lies in abstract geometrics, and much of my work embodies the clean and simple properties of that style. Over the years, I have incorporated iconic and whimsical shapes into my sculptures, allowing viewers to emotionally connect with my art. My public exhibits aim to create thought-provoking work that is sophisticated, easily recognizable, and serves as a mental postcard.
I work primarily with Stainless Steel and Cor-Ten Steel. Stainless Steel is a beautiful and versatile metal that can be finished in various ways, as showcased in our gallery. These variations add dimension and depth to the sculptures. Cor-Ten Steel is chosen for its reputation of “long life/low maintenance.” It is commonly used by cities and the federal government to construct bridges. It develops a protective layer over time, offering an organic and simple element to the sculptures, while Stainless Steel adds a touch of pizzazz and vibrancy.
In 2002, I began my full-time welding career. My interest in TIG welding and working with metal started years before when I taught myself to repair metal equipment on my family’s farm. Even before that, during my school years, I developed a passion for art. However, I never considered it a viable career path to support a family. It was always more of a hobby, and making it economically viable seemed unattainable. Consequently, I’ve walked a fine line, balancing my creative impulses with the economic realities of marketing, selling, and transporting large, heavy metal sculptures.
My body of work includes sculptures for homes and gardens, which are displayed in esteemed galleries throughout the U.S. and are part of exclusive private and corporate collections. I am grateful that my large sculptures enhance many public spaces across the nation, providing enjoyment to visitors. When I’m not designing, welding, or exhibiting, I enjoy spending time with my three children, traveling in my Vanagon, engaging in 4-wheeling, and flying kites.
