I absolutely love the 3-D feel of this Shark sculpture. It was created around the same time as the Easter Island Head piece. I was very motivated to try a highly faceted piece. Unfortunately for me and the sculpture, I created it in 2008 right before the real-estate fiasco hit the economy. This piece has a higher price point due to the amount of labor required for it and the perforated, hand bent steel technique. I found that although people seemed to really love it, the pricing required for it was its downfall.
I needed to refocus my work on simpler designs and thus learned, once again, that the business of art doesn’t always allow my heart to make what it wants.
