Rodeo Joe

2010
Cor-Ten Steel
6′ 6″ H x 4′ 6″ W x 1′ 6″ D

In 2010, I was very excited to be spending a month in Colorado exhibiting in back to back art shows. I designed Rodeo Joe specifically with that trip in mind.

I knew I wanted to use the familiar head form of my 2 Farmers, but I wanted something meaningful in the head space that would specifically symbolize Colorado. I love the fun kicky feel of this cowboy. The piece later morphed again into the sculpture A Good Idea.

The curvature and shape of this piece makes it an interesting and challenging build. In 2010, I evolved this piece into one single form and Rodeo Joe was born.
